The Indian National Statistics Day Assembly was conducted on 22nd June 2023 as an initiative to teach students of Middle School about Statistics and Financial Literacy while still celebrating all the work of Indian Staticians. This Event was planned and conducted by The Middle School Council to commemorate the works of P.C. Mahalanobis, The father of Indian Statistics. The whole assembly was split into two main topics: Indian National Statistics Day and Financial Literacy. During the assembly students learned what Indian National Statistics Day is, why we celebrate the day, what is financial literacy and a few steps to attain financial Literacy

The Science department conducted the ‘STEM Explosion Sustainability Challenge’ on June 22nd an exciting challenge for Grades 6 to 8.

Science content targeted in the projects was diverse from aquaponics farms to prosthetic arm which included.

• motion and aerodynamics
• energy transfer and renewable energy
• global systems and their interactions
• abiotic factors and biotic interactions with plants · body systems and interconnectedness
• Machines
• ethics and human impacts on ecosystems.

The working and non-working models from recyclable waste showcased innovative ideas like water pumped boats and electric bridges. Students thoroughly enjoyed the group activity. There was strong evidence of learning in students with oral presentations and scientific evidence to support their claims.

Yoga is an act of calming the body and expressing yourself and helps you to relax even during the most stressful times of your life.”

 JSSIS, Dubai celebrated “International Yoga Day” had organized an event for Middle school, to help students understand the importance of yoga and how it affects their wellbeing.

This event was organized on 21st June, 2023 from 11:00 pm to 12:00 pm in the school auditorium. Students performed several yoga poses in conjunction with yoga teachers and parents. They guided them to carry out different postures and helped complete this enriching session in the best way possible.

Objective: To make learning fun and develop independent learning, problem-solving

and collaborative learning.

Outcome: Enable the students to enhance improving their mathematical skills, teamwork abilities, and problem-solving aptitude.

On May 23rd, 2023, JSSIS organized Tech Connect, an interschool coding competition that gathered 17 schools from across the UAE.

The competition featured four distinct categories (AppLab, Scratch programming, Web Designing and Python/JAVA programming), each showcasing the participants’ exceptional intelligence. The coding challenges specifically emphasized critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, providing a platform for participants to demonstrate their expertise. The judging panel consisted of highly experienced professionals in the field of Information Technology. Trophies were awarded for first and second place in each category, while all other participants received well-deserved certificates of participation.

A thematic assembly was conducted on 1st June 2023 by the Head of the Inclusion Department Ms. Aprajita Sahoo, the Middle School Counsellor Ms. Madhura and the Psychology teacher and Counsellor Ms. Smiji. The topic which was addressed in the assembly was “Positive Behavior”

Visit & Talk by Mr. A S Kiran Kumar an Indian Space Scientist and Former Chairman ISRO, for the students in Middle and Senior classes at JSS International School as part of their learning. The session took place in the School Auditorium on 15th May, Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Drop Everything And Read was conducted on 12th May, 2023 to inculcate and encourage reading habits in students. Students had brought their favorite books and read them in the class , reading together in class brought about peer motivation and instilled a new found love for reading

A Financial/ESG Literacy awareness session for the students in Middle is conducted at JSS International School as part of RAK Bank Sustainability Council agenda in 2023 to improve their financial skills from the early stage. The session took place in the School Auditorium on 27th April.

The students engaged with great enthusiasm during this session. The most remarkable part was the questionnaire hour in which the students expressed their views and ideas and the speakers appreciated our students at the end of the session.

The middle school of JSS International school organized an orientation program on 23rd March 2023, for the grades 6th to 8th along with a new set of parents to familiarize them “as partners in progress”.
